It is with great joy that we welcome the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick and Colman on the 10th May 2016.

The parishioners are very familiar with the Redemptorist Fathers as they have, on many occasions, led Parish Missions in Newry Parish, leaving behind them many fond memories and much spiritual guidance.  Many parishioners would also have gone to St. Clement’s Retreat House on the Antrim Road, Belfast for retreats, Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter Weekends.  Newry, as a city, is very close to Dundalk and every year parishioners attend the annual novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Dundalk and many also travel to Clonard, in Belfast for the novena.  We are very proud of the fact that one of our parishioners, Fr. Noel Kehoe is currently the Rector in Clonard monastery.   His mother and family members reside in Newry Parish.  We are looking forward to the arrival of the icon in our Cathedral  in May and believe that it will be a time of grace for all of us in this year of Mercy.

Canon Francis Brown, Adm.

The Redemptorists are a religious congregation of brothers, most of whom are priests. We live in community and are passionate about preaching the Gospel, especially to those who feel abandoned and live on the edges of church and society. A growing network of co-workers and associates is evidence of our conviction about the importance of partnership in mission and of our commitment to enable all the baptized to take their rightful place in the life and ministry of the church.
